Um, It's November 22nd!

I'm not a scrooge. Really, I can be just as jolly and festive as the next guy, but I feel the need to inform everyone that today is November 22nd. Christmas is 33 days away.

Thanksgiving hasn't even happened yet, so let's lay off the Christmas sprit for another week until we all realize the true meaning of the season - shopping.

I got home from class Wednesday night and the lady was listening to our digital cable's holiday station. There is a short period of time that I can hear 'Do They Know It's Christmas', and November 20th certainly does not fall into that window.

And you know what, they don't know it's Christmas, because they're in fucking Ethiopia and they're still starving just as much as they were back in 1984.

Don't get me wrong, I don't wish ill will on the fine people of Ethiopia, but if another group novelty song comes out of this, I may pack up a cooler and grill, and head over there myself. At least there I won't have to hear the song, and I'll feel like I'm helping.

Sure it was a nice gesture and good cause, but do you remember just last fall how awful this song was?

And as I was walking into work today from my car, I noticed that the street light wreaths have been hung already in lovely downtown Silver Spring. Great, the ghetto is so pretty now.

And despite what their website says, these fools are already playing holiday music exclusively beginning today. Trust me, as I'm typing, I'm also listening to a choice selection from this album.

Let's just wait another week, that's all I'm asking. That way, we won't have to feel bad about hearing a song about famine in Africa before we all gorge ourselves on a Thanksgiving feast.
